Messaging Audit

Find where your messaging has lost its edge

Messaging Audit is one of the sixteen methods in Competitive Skills by LMTY.

Market Analyst fit: core

Try asking

  • Audit our homepage messaging against the market
  • Where has our messaging stopped differentiating?
  • Pressure-test this message hierarchy against competitors and customer evidence

Use this when

Current messaging feels less differentiated, competitors have moved, or the team needs to pressure-test claims before a launch or refresh.

What it needs

The current messaging, relevant competitor messaging, product truth, and customer or call evidence when customer-language claims are being made.

What it produces

A claim-by-claim audit showing convergence, unsupported distinctions, stale proof, evidence gaps, and the questions or edits that deserve attention.

How the method works

Inventory the meaningful claims. Compare them with current alternatives and available customer evidence. Separate wording similarity from product similarity. Identify where proof is weak or outdated.

Evidence rules

A competitor saying the same phrase does not automatically make the underlying products equivalent. Customer-language claims require customer evidence.

What Market Analyst adds

Tracked positioning changes and market history make it easier to see when language converged over time rather than only comparing today’s pages.

What this Skill does not own

The Skill audits existing wording. It does not promise net-new comparison copy, a full brand strategy, or a new competitive position.

Use the method in the right context

The Skill can run on its own with the context available to the AI system. When LMTY is connected, it can start from persistent market context and supporting evidence. Company-specific or deal-specific conclusions still require the relevant private context.

Positioning and offer

  • Develop or pressure-test competitive positioning against the alternatives customers actually consider, using evidence rather than invented differentiation.

  • Messaging Audit

    Currently viewing

Audit existing messaging against market and customer evidence to find convergence, weak proof, stale claims, and areas that need another look.

  • Use current competitor offers, pricing history, customer evidence, and company context to pressure-test a pricing or packaging decision.

  • Pressure-test an upcoming product launch against current alternatives, recent market movement, buyer expectations, and supportable differentiation.
