When this job shows up
A competitor becomes urgent because it appears in deals, leadership asks about it, a launch looks similar, or its pricing changes.
A useful way to do the work
A useful competitor analysis should answer a small set of durable questions.
- Who is the competitor trying to serve?
- What job is the product hired for?
- How does the company position itself?
- What does the product actually offer?
- How are pricing and packaging structured?
- What changed recently?
- Where does the competitor appear genuinely strong?
- What trade-offs or unknowns still need evidence?
The point is not to inventory a website. The point is to build a baseline that later decisions can reuse.
Skills used
The Job can route to additional Skills when the question expands.
What Market Analyst adds
If the competitor is already tracked, Market Analyst can begin with current positioning, pricing, product context, recent changes, prior states, and the evidence already collected. Fresh research fills the gaps instead of rebuilding the whole picture.
Evidence boundary
A competitor analysis cannot prove why your deals are lost, what buyers privately think, or where the competitor is weak without supporting evidence.
