Competitive Deal Preparation
Prepare for your next competitive sales meeting
Competitive Deal Preparation is one of the sixteen methods in Competitive Skills by LMTY.
Market Analyst fit: deal-context-heavy
Try asking
- Prep me for our next meeting with this account against the competitor
- We’re up against a competitor at this account. What should the team know?
- Build a competitive deal prep brief for this opportunity
Use this when
An upcoming buyer meeting involves a named competitor and a specific opportunity.
What it needs
Current competitor context plus CRM, call, stakeholder, buyer, and company context when available. Public research alone cannot establish private deal truth.
What it produces
An account and deal prep brief with current competitor context, likely decision areas, questions to ask, supportable claims, proof, risks, and unknowns.
How the method works
Start with what is known about the buyer and opportunity. Add current market truth. Keep public competitor evidence separate from account-specific inference. Prepare questions where context is missing.
Evidence rules
Opportunity-specific claims need opportunity evidence. Public research cannot establish buyer goals, stakeholders, or internal decision criteria.
What Market Analyst adds
The public side of the competitor can already be current so the team spends its prep time on the buyer and decision, not basic research.
What this Skill does not own
The Skill produces preparation. It does not produce a guaranteed close plan or create a new Deal Expert.
Use the method in the right context
The Skill can run on its own with the context available to the AI system. When LMTY is connected, it can start from persistent market context and supporting evidence. Company-specific or deal-specific conclusions still require the relevant private context.
Competitive revenue enablement
Create or refresh a reusable competitive battlecard with current evidence, discovery guidance, proof, qualification, and field-ready positioning.
Verify a buyer's competitive claim, understand the concern underneath it, and prepare a concise evidence-backed response with useful discovery questions.
Competitive Deal Preparation
Currently viewingPrepare a team for one named competitive opportunity using current market context plus the buyer and account evidence available for the deal.
Map buyer requirements, competitive risks, proof events, and no-go conditions for a formal POC, POV, bake-off, or RFP.
Update the parts of existing competitive enablement that became stale when a competitor, product, price, or market claim changed.
Audit battlecards and other competitive sales assets for stale, unsupported, duplicated, or risky claims before they reach the field.
